Oh yes am I a horse-geek. In fact, if I ever finish that future-fic you'll get to see just how much of a horse-geek I am.
Regular horseshoes are metal and nailed on (hoof is like fingernails; it doesn't feel) Easyboots are more like people shoes in design and aren't something you'd know about just doing lessons or reading most intro-level books, as likely as not. (I did specify them for a centaur cop character I was playing once in an urban fantasy setting)
