“So you’re seriously telling me this is one of the 66 seals?”

“Yes, if this pinniped dies before it mates, one of the seals will be broken.”

“Castiel, that’s a seal.”

“Yes, I just told you that.”

“No, I mean it’s a *seal* seal. The swimmy, eats fish sort of seal.”

“Actually Dean, it’s a sea lion. There are some important differences...”

“You shut up Sam. I remember when you went on the fieldtrip to the aquarium and were in love with marine mammals for the next year. We really have to save the world by getting a seal laid?”

I think I first saw the joke in the Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer movie, where the Burl Ives snowman introduces us to the wonders of the North Pole, including "Christmas seals" which are seals balancing presents on their noises and going "ar ar."

Wonderful! Thank you! I find myself irresistably thinking of Kipling's "Just So Stories" and the White Seal. . .

[identity profile] isaacsapphire.livejournal.com 2009-07-12 08:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Shish, The White Seal is one of my favorite, ok, probably IS my favorite Kipling story. Holischicky!

ahahaha! Delightful! And I remember that Christmas Burl Ives show you mentioned above. This is sly and funny - thanks!

Dang (I rated it for kiddies, have to keep the comments clean...) I kept thinking I should check that. Thank you for pointing it out.

This was great, and I would have loved to have had something like this for an ep. Thanks for writing and for the giggles.

Wow, an ep? I think that's the first time someone's said that about one of my fics :)

*snort* That was funny and awesome. A *seal* seal. Love it!

Woops, how did I miss this comment?

Thank you. I actually read this to my mom and little brother (not something I can do with much of my fanfic) and they both loved it.

You never fail me, you know that?

I was all...ugh...this has Castiel in it....*feeling skittish* but I clicked anyway and enjoyed it so much!

Even though there is not much dialogue, you have done such a clear job of showing their personalities. You got each of them pitch perfect. :D

Thank you for trusting me. I'm not Castiel's biggest fan either, but his carelessness about some things makes for some pretty good comic potential.
